MB Stone Care MB-12 Polishing Powder for Stone (formerly MB-11/P) is a unique blend of polishing powders designed to aid in the final polishing process developed by Maurizio Bertolli
Many professionals prefer it to other similar powders. The least result that can be expected is “as factory-finish.” In the VAST majority of cases the final result is always better than “factory.” It works well on green marbles, always delivering a gloss obviously higher than the “factory polish!” Black marbles, dark brown marbles, extremely delicate marbles (Botticino), dolomitic marbles. MB Stone Care MB-12 Polishing Powder for Stone is specifically designed for “Dry-polishing,” although it could also be used for wet-polishing. It enables a well trained operator to polish between 1200 and 2500 square feet per shift, depending on the marble (including coffee breaks!). What’s more, it works incredibly well on many “granites,” including – but not limited to – Black Absolute, both on floors and countertops.
MB-12 it’s an amazing performer the polishes to a deep gloss - most of the times higher than factory - all Marbles, Travertine, Serpentine (green marble), Onyx, Limestone, Alabaster, Ophicalcite, Terrazzo and more!
DIRECTIONS: The following are AVERAGE directions. Different stones may require different techniques. In doubt, don’t hesitate to contact us.
- Prepare the surface to be polished by honing it to the highest clarity possible.
- Protect surfaces that could be damaged by splatters with proper masking material.
- FLOORS: Target an area of approximately 10 – 12 sq. ft. and sprinkle a couple of tablespoons of MB-12 on the middle of it, possibly in a circular pattern slightly narrower than the diameter of the floor machine. Using a squirt or spray bottle soak the powder completely. Position a “hog-hair” pad on top of the wet powder and the floor machine on top of it. The machine cannot exceed 175 RPM for best results, and needs at least 1.5 HP. Swiftly swing the machine back and forth over the targeted area (to evenly spread the slurry), then polish slowly with a spiral motion moving from one end of the targeted area to the other and back, until the slurry dries and the stone surface becomes shiny. The first area will probably need to be done a couple of times for proper pad build-up. We suggest not exceeding approx. 100 sq. ft. with one side of the pad. After that, flip the pad over and go another 100 sq. ft. or so (hog-hair pads can be hosed off a couple of times and reused, before disposal.)
- TOPS: Target an area of approximately 2 or 3 sq. ft.. Sprinkle a little MB-12 on the surface to be polished in a circular pattern to be narrower than the polishing pad to be used. Spray a little mist of water on the powder and over the rest of the targeted area. Set the speed of the right-angle grinder/polisher (variable speed is a MUST) at 2500 RPM. Position a white or red nylon pad (3M brand is better). Controlling the speed with the trigger and applying as much pressure as the machine can take, start spreading the slurry over the targeted area keeping a very low RPM, until it’s almost dry. Pull the trigger all the way while gradually lightening the pressure and buff to a shine while moving the machine swiftly over the targeted area.
NOTICE: The directions above are average. Different marbles (and other stones) may require more powder (or less); more water (or less); a faster pace (or slower), according with their inner physical and chemical characteristics. This product can be considered as universal as they come, but it’s no substitute for professionalism.
